NEW in 2010

Fairytale Endings Add on Child Care

Your summer camp experience at JPAC does not have to end! New this summer JPAC is offering working parents the option to add on an extended child care option. Students will continue to learn through games, movies, crafts and more…all while you can rest assured that your child is well taken care of by a trained member of the JPAC faculty!

*To enroll in the fairytale endings program students are required to be registered in an earlier camp that same day/week. There must be a minimum of three students for this add on program to run.

Campers will need attire based on their chosen schedule. Ballet students need leotards, tights and ballet slippers. All other dance techniques, acting and voice need close fitting attire.

Voice

Singers unite! All campers will learn proper warm up techniques for using your voice safely, they will work on voice control and articulation. A basic musical note overview along with a musical appreciation lesson will help each singer gain lots of knowledge and know how to further their voice and find their own sound. Learning and rehearsing a musical score and performing it on stage will bring this day to an exciting finish!

Art Studio

Let the artist inside you out! Calling all expressive and creative students looking for an outlet! Campers will experience the art world through drawing and painting, while touching base in the three dimensional world of art using unique everyday items to create a one of a kind original!

Musical Theatre

Spend the day learning about the fun world of Musical Theatre! Learn the basic dance movements, ways to use your voice and put it all together. Both old and new musicals will be discussed and viewed so that students will gain a full awareness and appreciation of the world of Broadway. If you’ve ever imagined your name in lights this is the camp for you!

Acting

Actors will get an in depth look at what it takes to be an actor! Campers will learn audition techniques, stage directions, improvisation techniques, voice projection and control and much much more. Campers will develop a sense of “owning” the stage and taking control of their performance. This is a great day long intensive for students first learning and also those looking to perfect their acting skills.

Totally Tech

Spend a day behind the scenes learning all about the technical world of theatre! This exciting one day intensive will cover such topics as learning about lighting and running the light board, spiking the stage, talking over the headset, learning tech crew positions and then putting them to use acting as tech crew for a real show! This day camp is a one of a kind with parents invited to see the show Friday evening at 6:00pm. All campers should dress for tech in all black attire, close toe shoes…with each camper receiving their very own JPAC “tech crew” t-shirt..

Ballet Intensive

This one day intensive will help students further develop and refine their skills as a ballet dancer. The camp will include technique classes, lots of barre work, a focus on strength and alignment plus flexibility will help dancers develop their ballet vocabulary, grace and knowledge of the technique. Prior experience is a must for this intensive but ages will vary as campers will be split into age and level appropriate groups for the day. All dancers are required to wear pink tights and black leotards and hair pulled back in a bun.

Modern Intensive

Step into the wonderful world of Modern! Gain an intensive look at what it means to be a modern dancer. Learn various modern techniques, improvisation methods and historical aspects of this creative and expressive dance form. All dancers will be challenged both physically and mentally, while being pushed creatively to truly find their own voice through movement. Campers will learn original choreography as well as have the opportunity to learn basic choreographic techniques to further the understanding of the chorographic process. All dancers will be split into age and level appropriate groups for the day.

Jazz & Tap

Learn the stylings of jazz and tap dancers all in one day! Get an in depth experience in Jazz (both traditional and contemporary styles) and learn how important this American dance form has been in the development of movement vocabulary throughout the years. Also experience tap as both a rhythmic and percussive style of dance. Campers will be encouraged to spread their wings in these popular Broadway inspired techniques.

Hip-Hop

Let loose and get funky!!! All campers will enjoy the widespread popularity of Hip-Hop. Both as an athletic and artistic dance form this one day intensive will look at how hip-hop has influenced pop culture and how this style of movement has crossed over to the main stream. Each camper will truly a B boy or B girl and learn how to “bust it”!

Lyrical

Join us for a one day camp exploring the beautiful world of Lyrical dance. As a wonderful supplement to Ballet training dancers will learn how to take their technique and turn it into a creative and expressive form of dance.

Healthy Kids

All campers will not only learn different ways to be active and have fun…but how to be Healthy while doing it! Topics such as body image, activity level, nutrition and more will be discussed in this day long camp. Positive reinforcement will be given to all body types with the message of the day encouraging campers to be happy with who they are while also striving to be the healthiest person they can be! Campers will also get the wonderful opportunity to spend their lunch hour at Huntington’s Kitchen cooking and enjoying their very own lunch!
